Midwest Mustang Challenge 2012

Well I've decided to revisit the mustang challenge a few years older and hopefully a little wiser. I am excited about the chalenge and the other competitors and the horses. I see a few trainers from the past and a few new faces.
We picked up 2 mustangs this year. My assistant trainer Whitney also has entered. Mine is a petite sorrel mare with a pretty flaxen mane and tail. I am on day 6 and I still don't have a name for her yet.
Training is going well and I think today may be ride day but you never know with horses. I usually go out with an agenda that is very flexible because the horse will lead you in the direction it needs to go for the day.

Tippecanoe County Fair has come to an end and we survived through rain, mudd, heat, sweat, tears, and cheers!!!! First off we'd like to thank all of our wonderful students for doing such a magnificent job! Secondly congratulate everyone on bringing home multiple placings. To top off our week, Chloe Coleman won English Pony Versatility buckle, Rachel Choules won the Junior division English Versatility buckle, and Sara Dunco won Senior division Western Versatility buckle. We had ten horses go from our barn, and few other students who have come for lessons or camps, so this was an outstanding year. Thank yous to all of our parents who braved through the heat, chaos, and joys. We would not be what we are today without all of you. Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your world.

Pictures from the 2nd week of horse camp

So I know it has been a ridiculously long time since the 2nd week of horse camp was here, but I was finally able to trace down some pictures. To make a long story short there was an incident where my camera was put in the refrigerator with the eggs that we had used for the egg and spoon race... Anyway I am sorry that there are so few, but I figured it was better than none.
I would like to thank all of our participants from our horse camps. This year was great! We would not have had as much fun with out all of your support. Make sure to mouse over the Horse Camp link and then you will see the picture link underneath.
Once again thank you all so much for coming we hope to see you again next year!

Congratulations to Emily Fry-Schutt and her Haflinger Willow!!! Unfortunately in the thick of horse camp this year, their many accomplishments at the Warren County Fair were never posted. They did a superb job in Halter, Pony Pleasure, and Trail. Emily also won the Fireman's Race (exhibitors must balance a glass of water while riding the walk, trot, and canter) with her other horse during fair. Over the past year and a half Emily and Willow have made tremendous progress in Pleasure. They have poured their hearts into becoming a better horse/rider team and have succeeded. We are supremely proud of them for their many awards at the Warren County Fair, Indiana State Fair, and numerous open shows throughout the tri-state area this season. We send our deepest and most sincere appologizes, for not commending them more quickly on their accolades.

Congratulations to Siena Cooper on her success at the Fountain County Fair! She won her showmanship class in her age group and won Grand Champion Showmanship for her division. Siena and Invest Mint a.k.a. Tommy continued the day by placing second in all of her riding classes, including English Pleasure, Equitation, Western Pleasure, and Horsemanship. Considering that this was only Siena's third complete show with Tommy, I was amazed. She has progressed so far in such little time with not one complaint. She is a great example that if you apply yourself, you can do anything. I know that she will attain unbelievable heights. We are very proud of her and can't wait to see what the future has to hold.
GREAT JOB AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

1st Years Show at Tippecanoe County Fair

Congratulations to Claire Adams and Sara Dunco! They both performed well in the 1st Year's Show at the Tippecanoe County Fair today. Their hard work and persistence paid off when they placed in each class they entered. In fact both brought home trophies!!!!
Sara has been working hard with her gelding Rocky to resolve some ring sour issues and has gone through a lot to make him mind. Her drive and consistency has paid off brilliantly, she placed second in her English showmanship class and brought home the trophy in Western Horsemanship. While Claire tackled the challenge of showing English for the first time, well lets be honest really showing period for the first time. The only show she had an opportunity to go to, we left due to the rain. That didn't matter though, because she took second in her English Pleasure class and placed first in Showmanship and Western Pleasure. I can not begin to tell you how proud we are of these girls.
GREAT JOB AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
