My assistant trainer Whitney also has entered.  Mine is a petite sorrel mare with a pretty flaxen mane and tail.  I am on day 6 and I still don't have a name for her yet.    Training is going well and I think today may be ride day but you never know with horses.  I usually go out with an agenda that is very flexible because the horse will lead you in the direction it needs to go for the day.   Well I've decided to revisit the mustang challenge a few years older and hopefully a little wiser. Secondly congratulate everyone on bringing home multiple placings.  To top off our week, Chloe Coleman won English Pony Versatility buckle, Rachel Choules won the Junior division English Versatility buckle, and Sara Dunco won Senior division Western Versatility buckle.  We had ten horses go from our barn, and few other students who have come for lessons or camps, so this was an outstanding year.  Thank yous to all of our parents who braved through the heat, chaos, and joys.  We would not be what we are today without all of you.  Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your world. As for the Tippencanoe Fair we are two shows down and one to go.  Everyone (all 10 from the barn plus our lesson students from outside the barn) has placed at least a couple of times.  We are supremely proud of their perserverance and performances.  For pictures and details check out our Facebook page for pics and highlights... ]]> Thu, 22 Jul 2010 02:45:04 GMT 497E8E852546FBE690EA65040BB2101C Reminder for Tippy Show coming up http://doublehhorsefarm.com/newsroom.cfm?feature=159419&postid=310603 Just a reminder of things to check: What equipment needs to be cleaned?   What needs to be clipped on the horse?   Does your mane need trimmed?  Do you have bands for your horse?   Have you practiced showmanship?   Do all your show clothes fit and clean? Do you have clean halter, shampoo, sheet blanket,  sleazy, show blanket (under saddle), leg wraps or shipping boots...? If anyone has any other reminders please share them!!! Make sure you are in the process of preparing so that things are not left until the last minute. What equipment needs to be cleaned?

Fair http://doublehhorsefarm.com/newsroom.cfm?feature=159419&postid=28265 Congratulations to Emily Fry-Schutt and her Haflinger Willow!!!  Unfortunately in the thick of horse camp this year, their many accomplishments at the Warren County Fair were never posted.  They did a superb job in Halter, Pony Pleasure, and Trail.  Emily also won the Fireman's Race (exhibitors must balance a glass of water while riding the walk, trot, and canter) with her other horse during fair.  Over the past year and a half Emily and Willow have made tremendous progress in Pleasure.  They have poured their hearts into becoming a better horse/rider team and have succeeded.  We are supremely proud of them for their many awards at the Warren County Fair, Indiana State Fair, and numerous open shows throughout the tri-state area this season. We send our deepest and most sincere appologizes, for not commending them more quickly on their accolades. Colleen

Tommy continued the day by placing second in all of her riding classes, including English Pleasure, Equitation, Western Pleasure, and Horsemanship.  Considering that this was only Siena's third complete show with Tommy, I was amazed.  She has progressed so far in such little time with not one complaint.  She is a great example that if you apply yourself, you can do anything.  I know that she will attain unbelievable heights.  We are very proud of her and can't wait to see what the future has to hold.   GREAT JOB AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
